Falcon rallies the valley

As many as seven hundred B.C. Liberals turned out to show their support for party leadership contender Kevin Falcon last night in Cloverdale.Falcon's Rally in The Valley was the Surrey-Cloverdale MLA's last high-profile appearance in his home riding before tomorrow's leadership vote. He also launched his leadership campaign here back on Nov. 30 at the Surrey Museum, before flying to Prince George for a similar appearance later that day.Local Liberal Bill Reid said four busloads of supporters from Richmond also turned out for Falcon's Feb. 24 rally at the Alice McKay building on the Cloverdale Fairgrounds.A few hours earlier, Falcon was the first of the four candidates to raise the alarm that a sizable number of party members had not yet received PIN numbers needed to take part in tomorrow's leadership vote.He said the party may not have allowed enough time for Canada Post to deliver personal identification (PIN) numbers to rural and northern areas of the province.Party members without PINs were urged to phone the party's helpline, which quickly became overloaded.
