U.S. border officials at the Peace Arch crossing logged a series of arrests last weekend, including that of a Canadian man wanted in Texas for aggravated sexual assault of a child.

According to a news release issued Monday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, a 44-year-old Coquitlam resident was detained Saturday morning after a routine inspection revealed a warrant out of Tarrant County, Tx.

Details of the assault, including when it occurred and the age of the victim, were not released.

The man was processed and paroled into the U.S. for extradition to Texas.

Three other travellers detained over the weekend included two Canadian women and a man from Wellborn, Fla.

The Florida resident, age 29, was turned over to Washington State Patrol officials Saturday afternoon after he told border officers that he was there to pick up firearms – two rifles and a pistol – that were previously seized by Canada Border Services Agency officials when he had tried to enter B.C.

Officials contacted his probation officer and discovered an active warrant for probation violation.

The two Canadian women were detained at the port Sunday after inspections revealed they were each wanted in Idaho for burglary. One woman listed Boise, Idaho as her home, and the other claimed to live in Fallbrook, Calif.

Both were taken to jail in Bellingham.
