Once the post-Christmas haze settles, tree chipping options by donation will be available in Surrey and White Rock.
Local charities will be running tree chipping events by donation for the service. Included are the White Rock Firefighters Charity Association located at Centennial Arena parking lot, 14600 North Bluff Rd., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025 and Surrey Fire Fighters Charitable Society annual Surrey tree chip for charity on Saturday, Jan. 4 at Guildford Town Centre parking lot, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Surrey's firefighters have been chipping trees for donations since 1994. All donations benefit family programs and youth in Surrey communities, states the department's website.
By donation on Saturday, Dec. 28 and Saturday, Jan. 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. tree chipping will also be available at Semiahmoo Fish & Game Club in the upper parking lot, with all proceeds going to the new hatchery building fund.
Peace Portal Church youth group, who are fundraising their grad trip to Disneyland July 2025, are picking up trees Jan. 1, 4, 5, 11 and 12. Or you can drop your tree off on any of those days 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Peace Portal Church located on the corner of 152 Street and King George Boulevard. Costs are $15 to $20 for pickup.
