Friends described Tori Dunn, the Surrey woman who was killed on June 16, as a fighter for justice. On Sept. 6, they brought 'Justice for Tori Dunn' signs to Surrey provincial court, where her accused killer appeared again Friday (Sept. 20).

Adam Mann, 40, appeared by video in Surrey provincial court Friday (Sept. 20) in connection to the murder of Tori Dunn.

Mann was charged with second-degree murder on June 28 in connection to Tori's death. Mann is currently in court on three unrelated charges. None of these charges have been proven in court, and a publication ban currently covers the details.

Mann is scheduled to appear in court again on Oct. 10 for a hearing.

Dunn, 30, was found with life-threatening injuries in her home in Port Kells on June 16. She later died in hospital.

Tori owned a local landscaping business, Dunn Right Landscaping.

A group of Tori's friends attended the hearing on Sept. 20.

Brianna Bridger, Tori's friend, described her as a passionate advocate for justice.

"(She) would have been doing what we're doing now if it was somebody else .. and getting as much information as possible to make sure that we can, with what limited ability we have, to help."

"Tori was a one-of-a-kind woman, and anybody who got to know her was very lucky and felt her love immediately," Bridger said.

Chasity Dunn, Tori's cousin, started an online petition in early July, which has garnered more than 5,000 signatures. The Dunn family is calling on the legal system to "undertake a comprehensive internal review of the decisions and legal procedures leading up to the tragedy that has befallen Tori."

The family also created a Facebook group, Justice for Tori Dunn, where people can be updated and share their journey "in seeking justice for Tori," reads the group description.
