Bob Holmes has been elected to serve on the B.C. School Trustees Association as vice-president.

A Surrey school trustee has been elected to another board in education.

Bob Holmes, a Surrey school board trustee since 2014, has been elected to serve as vice-president of the B.C. School Trustees Association.

“It is a great honour and privilege to serve as vice-president of the B.C. School Trustees Association and provide a strong voice for British Columbia’s students, teachers, support staff, and administrators,” Holmes said in a press release.

“Throughout my career of serving families and students, my goal remains to create an equitable, safe, caring environment for students.”

Holmes' new position is not his first within the BCSTA. The trustee has also served as president of its Metro branch and on the board for that branch also. He has also been the board liaison to the Surrey District Parent Advisory Committee and on the finance and policy committees on the board.

Along with the rest of the newly elected board, Holmes will serve on the BCSTA for the next two years.

“Bob has been a relentless and hard-working advocate for families and students in Surrey for over two decades as a DPAC board member and trustee,” school board chair Gary Tymoschuk said.

“He has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to Surrey Schools, our students and our families.”
