Earl Marriott Secondary in South Surrey is closed today (Monday, Feb. 3) due to reported vandalism.

A high school in South Surrey is closed, but not due to the snowy weather.

"We can confirm there was a break and enter at Earl Marriott in the early hours of Sunday morning," spokesperson Rena Heer said.

Earl Marriott Secondary is closed to all students and staff on Monday (Feb. 3) due to what the district described as "damage to the building due to vandalism."

Surre Police have been investigating the incident, the district states.

"A group at the school on Sunday noticed a decrease in water pressure," Heer added, which caused the school to not have water, leading to school closure on Monday.

"Staff were on hand to investigate the issue and noticed damage to insulation and plumbing. They have been working to resolve the issue, and as of this afternoon, are ready for students to attend class."

Earl Marriott will resume classes Tuesday (Feb. 4), Heer confirmed.
