Police are looking for witnesses and video of a serious crash in North Delta earlier this month.

According to a DPD press release, a loud crash prompted calls to the department just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18. The crash resulted in a lengthy power outage for parts of North Delta, affecting some BC Hydro customers until mid-day.

Upon arrival, officers located a single-car collision at the corner of River Road and Russell Drive. A black Honda Civic had gone off the road, shearing a wooden power pole in half and coming to rest against a metal lamp post.

Police say the car’s female passenger was transported to hospital with minor injuries, while the male driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

An investigation is now underway to determine the cause of the crash. Police say speed and alcohol have not been ruled out.

Investigators are asking for any witnesses or anyone with surveillance video, dash camera video or Tesla video to contact them by calling 604-946-4411 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. and referencing file 2023-27739.

Any video of the collision, of the vehicle’s driving before the crash, or of the aftermath can be uploaded directly to the DPD’s evidence management system at dpd.ca.evidence.com/axon/community-request/public/23-27044.
