Police appeal for witnesses of Surrey Hindu temple vandalism

Similar incident happened on same day in Vancouver at Gurdwara

Surrey's Shree Lakshmi Narayan Mandir was vandalized by multiple suspects on April 19 around 3 a.m.

Police are looking for anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have more information about the early morning vandalism. Suspects wearing face coverings were at the Mandir on 140 Street and 83 Avenue around 3 a.m. on Saturday.

"At this location, the suspects spray-painted multiple building pillars and a Mandir sign. The suspects were travelling in a white pickup truck believed to be a Dodge," Surrey Police state.

Photos of the suspects and their vehicle were released by police, captured on CCTV footage.

A similar incident also occurred on the same day in Vancouver at the Khalsa Diwan Society Gurdwara. Surrey and Vancouver Police are working together on the cases, SPS state.

Investigators are appealing to the public for more information as well as possible dash camera footage from the area on April 19 between 3 a.m. and 3:40 a.m.
