The foot print of the Miramar Village’s second phase – two 15- and 16-storey towers – is starting to take shape in White Rock.
Crews worked to remove two trees on Thrift Avenue Thursday, just south of Bryant Park, and on the southwest corner of the future site of the two buildings, which will include 229 apartments and space for 14 shops.
City of White Rock CAO Dan Bottrill told Peace Arch News Thursday that two trees on Thrift Avenue, and another three trees approximately 100-metres north of that, are to be removed for a lane realignment.
“Isn’t it funny? This development project, it’s too bad the second phase took so long. Nobody remembers what occurred back in 2005 when this all got approved. Finally they’re doing it and they’re taking care and realigning lanes. These trees were already slated to be removed, it was just a question of when the job was going to be done, but nobody remembers that,” Bottrill said.
Bottrill noted that trees will be replanted, and the “amazing” part about the project is that there are going to be “a lot more trees” along Johnston Road, as well as Thrift.
“The plaza area is going to be amazing too, once it’s complete. It’s like anything… it will be nice when it’s all done.”
The project, being developed by Bosa Properties, is expected to be complete by 2020.
