Listed are some spaces around the Surrey region to grab a book and get some reading in.

With summer weather in full swing, the usual outdoor areas are getting packed with people. But for those who may want a quieter place to finally get some reads in, there are still some areas of Surrey not as populous.

While these are not by any means the only five, below are just some suggestions to provide inspiration, in no particular order.

1. Fleetwood Gardens is the quieter sister to Fleetwood Park in Surrey, and while it is a smaller area, some areas still remain to sit down and enjoy the tranquility. Whether it's on one of the park benches or a picnic blanket anywhere in the beautified space, one will not regret making the trip out with your favourite or new read.

2. East Beach in White Rock may be pretty popular in the summer time, but it's still often quieter than the Pier. Benefits also include cooler winds from being at the waterfront and your choice of sand or grass to seat yourself on. Regardless of the day, the large beach often has space for an afternoon of reading.

3. Libraries, the good old-fashioned option, are abound in Surrey and White Rock and are perfect for anyone looking for the ultimate quiet space to get some serious reading done. Whether it's a book from your own from home or one from the shelves, the options are endless.

4. Elgin Heritage Park offers a lot to its visitors – including, at times, a good quiet corner to yourself. And if a break from reading is required, the vast park has so much else to enjoy.

5. Semiahmoo Park, when not booked and busy with events, is also a great option – near to but different from the White Rock Pier. With greenery, picnic tables and shady trees, the smaller space can be enjoyed just the same.
