Two men have been arrested after stolen vehicles, fraudulent credit cards, drugs and more were recovered by police in Surrey.
An investigation involving Surrey RCMP, Vancouver Police and Transit Police has resulted in the recovery of a "significant amount" of stolen items, according to a release from Surrey Police Service.
On Dec. 3, 2024, officers began investigating a Dodge Ram truck that was involved in multiple offences, including break-and-enters in West Vancouver, a tire-theft in Surrey and for failing to stop for police in Langley. The truck was also adorned with counterfeit licence plates, SPS added.
An individual was identified by police, who also determined he had two residences in Surrey. After obtaining search warrants, police searched two properties, one on 9400-block of 173A Street and the other on 10200-block of 159A Street.
In the former home, an unnamed man who was seated behind the wheel of a stolen Jeep Compass was arrested, as well as eight other individuals. The other people were later released by police.
The Jeep that was allegedly stolen in Chilliwack with stolen plates from Surrey was recovered by police, in addition to the Dodge Ram that was stolen in Maple Ridge, the counterfeit licence plates on that vehicle, 277 grams of crystal methamphetamine, stolen tools from thefts and 24 tires stolen from a car dealership in Surrey valued at $6,000.
At the second home searched, a man who police suspect of driving the stolen Dodge Ram was arrested, while the key for the vehicle was recovered. Additionally, a stolen Apple MacBook was also seized, as well as stolen credit cards, fraudulent documents including credit cards, equipment used to forge documents and a key ring of bump keys used to break into locks.
“By working collaboratively with our policing partners across the Lower Mainland, we were able to make arrests related to several alleged offences from West Vancouver to Chilliwack, recover and return thousands of dollars worth of stolen property, including two vehicles to their owners," said staff sergeant Nigel Pronger of RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit’s Community Response Unit.
