The sixth annual South Asian Health Wellness Fitness Expo will take place Sunday, Nov. 20 starting at 11 a.m. at Sikh Academy, 12895 85 Ave.

The event is free.

The event aims to address health issues South Asians face, include diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity due to a high-calorie diet.

There will be vendors from the health, wellness and fitness industry on site doing free testing, giving out information and distributing product samples and prize giveaways.

The eighth edition of the South Asian Health Magazine will be distributed to all attendees for free.

Throughout the day, there will be free exercise dance classes for any attendees who want to participate (workout clothes and running shoes are recommended).

The events are:

• 11:15 a.m.: A 30-minute Bollywood fusion class by Anett Roland of BollyX Fitness;

• 1 p.m.: A 30-minute Zumba class by Gabriela Porcina; and

• 2:30 p.m.: A 30-minute Zumba class for kids by Gabriela Porcina.

One of the vendors will be bodybuilder-turned-entrepreneur Ram Gill from Thirsty Garden, a local pressed juice company.

Another vendor will be the BC Responsible Gambling Association.

Consultant Kuldip Gill says her organization will connect with those for whom “gambling isn’t fun anymore.”

Additional non-profit agencies include Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Alcoholics Anonymous, Transplant B.C., Jivana Organ Donor Society, Guru Nanak’s Free Kitchen and Canadian Mental Health Association.

There will be roughly 30 vendors on-site and a Speaker Series with a lineup of guest from the health, wellness and fitness industry.
