The first-ever player signed by the Abbotsford Canucks and the only captain in team history has re-signed with the club for two more seasons.
The Canucks announced a two-year extension for the 24-year-old on Wednesday (June 19).
Wouters became the first player to sign under the Abbotsford Canucks banner on July 22, 2021 and then was named the franchise's inaugural team captain on Oct. 13, 2022.

"Chase has been an integral part of growing and maintaining the culture we want here in Abbotsford,” stated Abbotsford Canucks general manager Ryan Johnson. “His contributions on and off the ice are a testament to both his abilities and his character. We are thrilled that Chase has committed to leading this team and continuing to develop within our organization.”
Wouters, a forward, has collected 66 points in 196 games with the Canucks and is the franchise leader in regular season games played (196) and playoff games played. This past season saw Wouters establish a new career-high in goals with nine. He also scored three points in six playoff games.
“I’m incredibly thrilled to return to Abbotsford for another two years,” Wouters said. “It’s a true honour to extend this journey alongside the amazing teammates, fans and staff. I’m looking forward to seeing them all soon.”
Wouters was the longest serving captain in the history of the Western Hockey League’s Saskatoon Blades, wearing the “C” from 2018-19 to 2020-21. He recorded 181 points in 280 career games with the Blades. His number 44 was retired and hangs in the rafters inside the SaskTel Centre.
