The suspect in a fatal White Rock stabbing appeared briefly in Surrey Provincial Court via video Thursday (June 13).

Counsel for Dimitri Nelson Hyacinth, 27, requested a three-week deferment of the hearing.

The matter was adjourned to July 4 to fix a date.

Charged with the April 23 second-degree murder of Kulwinder Singh Sohi, 26, Hyacinth is also facing aggravated assault charges in connection with a stabbing attack on Jatinder Singh, 28, two days earlier, on Sunday, April 21.

Singh, who had only been in Canada for a few months, survived the stabbing, with a serious neck wound that was treated in hospital.
