Harrison Meneghin is shining in net for his new team in the Western Hockey League.
The South South-raised teen earned WHL Goaltender of the Week honours for the week ending Oct. 13 after picking up his first two wins as a member of Medicine Hat Tigers, who traded for Meneghin a week earlier.
The 2004-born netminder, a Tampa Bay Lightning prospect, had spent his entire junior career with Lethbridge Hurricanes, with whom he earned Goaltender of the Year honours in the WHL's Central Division last season.
With the Tigers in his first week, Meneghin roared in the cage with a .50 goals-against average, a .978 save percentage and a shutout.
A two-time WHL All-Star, the six-foot-four Meneghin "has long been a dependable force between the pipes," according to a post on chl.ca. "He holds a career record of 48-34-7-2 with a 2.69 goals-against average, a .914 save percentage and five shutouts."
In the 2024 NHL Entry Draft last June, Meneghin was selected by the Lightning in the seventh round, 206th overall.
So far this season, WHL Goaltender of the Week accolades have gone to Koen Cleaver (Lethbridge Hurricanes), Ethan Eskit (Brandon Wheat Kings) and Spencer Michnik (Victoria Royals).
