Prior to Surrey Eagles' season-opener tonight (Friday, Sept. 20), two new large video screens were installed at South Surrey Arena at a cost of $470,000.
Funding from the City of Surrey aims to "enhance and improve user and spectator experience as well as provide opportunities to elevate local partnership brands and build community," says a news release from city hall.
The state-of-the-art "digital displays" can be used for video replays, pre-game and in-game presentations, greetings, advertising and more, by the Eagles and other users of the arena including Semiahmoo Minor Hockey Association.
The Eagles host Prince George Spruce Kings Friday starting at 7 p.m.
The BCHL team will make "good use of the the new digital displays" at South Surrey Arena, according to Saje Brar, director of operations for Surrey Eagles.
"Through the help of the city, we now have the opportunity to enhance our game-day experience and take this program to a back-to-back championship," Brar said in a news release. "The value of now having instant replay and other features makes our game-day experience just that much better.”
