Admission is free at the annual Heart to Home Holiday Market, returning to Surrey Arts Centre on Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 16-17).

From noon to 4 p.m. daily, the Surrey Art Gallery Association-hosted event fills the Studio Theatre with one-of-a-kind pieces created by more than 20 artists in Surrey, the Lower Mainland and places further afield including the Gulf Islands.

Holiday shoppers can find pottery, fibre art, jewellery, paintings, prints, photographs, art cards, sculptures and more.

Returning this year are Karen Bosanac with her diverse array of earrings and other jewellery, Wendy Schmidt with her lifelike animal paintings, Karl Kaluski with his elegant wooden pens, Ralph Heading with his quirky recycled sculptures, and many more.

New vendors include Jennifer Clark with her nature-inspired paintings, Lucia Steeg with her mixed media shelf and wall art pieces, and Olga of So Exquisite Art who creates oil paintings using her fingers. Ceramicist Murray Sanders will be doing live demos of wheel throwing and will have a table of his work as well.

Members of Surrey Art Gallery Association (SAGA) receive 15 per cent off purchases. If you’re not a member already, you can become one on-site or online. Visit https://www.sagabc.com or call 604-501-5187.

Nalini Bhui is president of Surrey Art Gallery Association, which raises funds and operates programs that complement those at Surrey Art Gallery through membership and other programs.

"SAGA members encourage public education and conversation in the visual arts and support local visual artists," says a post on SAGA's website. "Proceeds from SAGA’s fundraising contribute to the Surrey Art Gallery’s exhibitions, publications and programs, including acquiring artworks for the permanent collection and supporting the development of the Gallery’s TechLab and UrbanScreen.

"SAGA believes contemporary art provides all people with an opportunity to reflect upon our culture, society, issues, and ideas of our time. The residents of our young, growing city must have access to their visual and cultural heritage. The Surrey Art Gallery Association’s efforts play an essential role in realizing these goals through the events and services provided and by actively supporting the programs of Surrey Art Gallery."
