Fans of stand-up comedy have another local venue for everything from grins and giggles to big belly-laughs.

Live comedy is on tap – along with some tempting beers – at the Galaxie Public House in uptown White Rock the third Thursday of every month, thanks to comedian and presenter Ryan La Chance and Hell On Wheelz Comedy.

That includes tonight (Thursday, Dec. 19), when doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show gets underway at 8 p.m., at the venue, 15165 Russell Ave.

Headliner for the evening is comic Steve McGowan, who has been described as a cross-Canada fan favourite for his irreverent onstage rant and rage-style comedy

The monthly Comedy at the Galaxie showcase offers "out of this world comedy" with some of Canada's best stand-up comics, featuring a different line-up each month.

"(There's) no artificial intelligence! No evangelical whisperings!" La Chance states. "Only 100% pure homebred terrestial comedians – or mostly terrestial – giving you the best of what they got!"

Tickets are $20 in advance (visit ryanlachance.com for information) or $25 at the door.
