The Vikings: Master Mariners, Traders, Colonists and Artisans

Legends abound about the Vikings–mythical traders and fierce explorers from Scandinavia who roamed the high seas from the eighth through the tenth centuries. Discover an updated view of Vikings, their everyday life and significant contributions to European and Western culture. From the Manitoba Museum. On display February 12  to April 13



Make Believe Birthday Parties

Celebrate your birthday at the Surrey Museum! Invite your friends  and choose from themes like Pirates, Dinosaurs, Cowboy/Cowgirl, Ancient Egypt and more. Must pre-book at 604-592-6956. Saturdays 2-4 p.m., $12.50 per child (birthday child is free)


Let’s Talk: Radios

Learn about the evolution of the radio with a tour through the museum’s exhibit gallery. Then enjoy a cup of tea while you listen to and chat about memorable radio broadcasts. Must pre-register at 604-592-6956. Friday, March 8, 2-3:30 p.m, 1 session $6.50 (55yrs+).


LEGO Vikings!

Learn LEGO Master Builder techniques and use them to build Viking longboats, villages, and even a Norse god! Participants will take home a special Viking mini-figure. Must pre-register at 604-592-6956. Saturday, March 9, 12:30 p.m-2 p.m. OR 3 p.m.-4:30 p.m.,  1 session $20 (7-11yrs)


Tot Tour: Pioneer Playtime

Pioneer children did not have electricity, but they still had lots of fun! Discover pioneer games, take part in a sing-a-long, then make and play with neat homemade toys. Must pre-register at 604-592-6956. Friday, March 15 , 10:30 a.m.-12 noon, 1 session $6.50 (3-5yrs).


Let’s Talk: Music

Discovery Saturday: Celtic Fest

Experience all things Celtic at the Surrey Museum! Be entertained by captivating Celtic music and dancing, learn about Celtic history through local community groups, and get creative with Celtic crafts. Saturday, March 16       1 p.m.-4 p.m. All ages, by donation.


Spring Break Family Drop-in

Drop in to the museum for family-friendly activities, crafts, exhibit exploration, and fun! Tuesday, March 19 to Friday March 22 (Fossil Science); Tuesday, March 26 to Friday, March 28 (The Vikings), from 10:30am-12:30pm. All ages, by donation


Kids Can Knit: Intermediate

Make cool wristbands, funky bags, headbands and other fun projects as you learn new techniques in this intermediate class that takes you “beyond the basics”. Must pre-register at 604-592-6956. Wednesday, March 20, 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., 6 sessions $47.50 (8-12yrs).


Craft It with Wool

Preschoolers enjoy hands-on fun as they learn how clothing was made in days gone by. Try weaving and felting and make a woolly sheep to take home. Must pre-register at 604-592-6956. Thursday, March 21, 1:30 p.m.-3 p.m. , 1 session $10.25 (3-6yrs).


Amazing Race: Viking Style

Easter Pompom Babies

Get ready to celebrate Easter and make cuddly chicks, lovable lambs or bouncing bunnies for your Easter basket. Must pre-register at 604-592-6956.

Weaving–Level 1

Easter Bunnies and Chicks

Chocolate Extravaganza

Easter Fair

Join in Easter fun for the whole family with crafts, games and an Easter Egg scavenger hunt. Learn about the real Easter Bunny and friends as you meet rescue animals. Saturday, March 30, 1 -4:00 p.m., all ages, by donation.

Let’s Travel Series – Take a trip with the Surrey Museum team to England, Norway, Japan, and Canada. Explore these countries with crafts and games, and learn a bit of the language. Must pre-register at 604-592-6956.

Historic Stewart Farm

Tour the charming restored 1894 farmhouse, pole barn and heritage gardens, try old-fashioned crafts, take part in a program or special event, and imagine pioneer life at the turn of the 19th century. 13723 Crescent Road, Surrey. 604-592-6956. Scottish Afternoon Tea – Discover the Stewart family’s Scottish heritage as you explore the charming 1890s farmhouse and grounds with a costumed guide. Then relax while we serve an old-fashioned Scottish tea and baked treats. Must pre-book at 604-592-6956.

Family Day at the Farm: Classic Stories – Drop in to the farmhouse and enjoy simple, family-friendly tours and activities to celebrate classic stories like Cinderella and Red Riding Hood.
