Got a hankering for harmony?

Delta's arts community is hosting an Acoustic Harmony Afternoon on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 2:30 p.m. at the Firehall Centre for the Arts, 11489 84 Ave.

Doors open at 2 p.m.Organizer and emcee Patti McGregor describes the 90-minute show as feature of small harmony groups from duos to quintets or more - just not full choirs.

McGregor says she's got some prospective groups preparing, and is seeking others interested in signing up.

"They do not have to do harmony through the whole piece... in the chorus is fine, or counter-melodies," says McGregor, who emcees the monthly North Delta Open Mic at the firehall. "Ideally five or six duos or other small groups, each doing two or three numbers, hopefully a mix of tempo or rhythms."

The event is unplugged, with no microphones or amps.

Admission, like the monthly open mic, is $5, but the harmony event is free for performers.

"I am pushing for the performers not to pay because of the nature of the event, which would involve rehearsals."

Delta's Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture is sponsoring the event.

McGregor says she'd like to see a harmony event like this take place five or six times a year. In the meantime, her regular North Delta Open Mic runs on the last Friday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at same location.
