More than 100 members of the Surrey Symphony Society perform May 10 at Chandos Pattison Auditorium.

The Surrey Symphony Society celebrates Mother’s Day with a concert featuring 120 young musicians.

Under the direction of Joel Stobbe, Ben Goheen and Andrea Taylor, the society’s three youth orchestras will perform a fresh bouquet of music composed by an array of composers throughout the centuries.

The sounds of Vivaldi, Handel, Mozart, Grieg and Dvorak will provide an evening repertoire of orchestral favourites that promise to satisfy the musical tastes of the entire family.

Felicia Tsai, violinist and winner of this year’s annual Concerto Competition, will be featured in Symphonie Espagnole in D minor, Op. 21 by Edouard Lalo and Antoine Dvorak’s Symphony No.8 will conclude the concert.

The Surrey Symphony Society will also present nine scholarships during the evening to members of all three orchestras for the upcoming 2015/16 season.

The concert takes place May 10, 7 p.m. at Chandos Pattison Auditorium, 10238 168 St.

Tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for youth and seniors, available at the door or by reserving by email (gm.surreysymphony@gmail.com).
