A diverse range of artwork is always to be expected at the Arts Council of Surrey’s annual juried show at the Surrey Art Gallery.

But this year, ARTS 2015 also provides plenty of invention, surprise and humour amongst the 51 chosen pieces of art, which include drawings, paintings, fabric works, sculpture, photography and glasswork by established and emerging artists from across the Lower Mainland.

There is a large number of photographic and digital artworks, as well as many sculptures and fibre arts pieces in this year's selection.

The show launches Friday, June 26 with an opening reception from 7-9 p.m. at the Surrey Art Gallery (13750 88 Ave.). Awards will also be presented in five separate categories: Painting: Works on Canvas; Painting: Works on Paper; Drawing, 2-D Mixed Media & Printmaking; 3-D Works & Fibre Arts; and Photography & New Media. Works are selected for their technical skill and innovative artistic thinking.

Visitors to the exhibition are also invited to vote for the People's Choice Award that will be announced at the close of the show in August.

The exhibition runs through Aug. 22. Phone 604-501-5566 for further information.

The opening reception is free and admission to the gallery is by donation.
