Acclaimed percussionist Rod Thomas Squance is a guest performer in the Coffee Concert series at Surrey Arts Centre's Main Stage on the morning of Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024.

"Rhythm & Song" kicks off a four-concert morning series at Surrey Arts Centre on Thursday, Nov. 7.

As Percussiano3, the two hands of percussionist Rod Thomas Squance and the four hands of Elizabeth and Marcel Bergmann unite to perform "a six-handed musical marvel" starting with a 10 a.m. social hour, pre-concert on the Main Stage.

Promised are solo percussion selections, piano ensemble gems, as well as percussion and piano duets, featuring compositions by Bach, Chabrier, Ravel, Copland and Piazzolla.

Percussiano3 delivers "all of the excitement of a percussion ensemble without losing the classical touch of a traditional concert, presenting great masterpieces and unique transcriptions for percussion and piano," says a post on surrey.ca. Tickets are sold on tickets.surrey.ca, or call 604-501-5566.

Next year, the Bergmann Duo-led Coffee Concert series continues with Olé!—Spanish Inspirations (showcasing the influence of Spanish music on 19th and 20th century composers), La Vie en Rose (with harpist Janelle Nadeau) and Pocket Symphonies (with Jasper Wood on violin and Joseph Elworthy, cello). The concerts are planned by Surrey Civic Theatres in a 2024-25 Presentation Series of music, theatre and comedy shows.
