Coffee house hosts open mic music nights

Wednesdays, Wired Monk Coventry offers a live music venue for singers and spectators.

Resident band Two Hits & A Miss perform at a recent open mic night at Wired Monk Coventry. The coffee house hosts a weekly open mic on Wednesday evenings for musicians and singers.

So you think you can play?

Wired Monk Coventry at 184 Street and 64 Avenue hosts an Open Mic Music Night for musicians and singers every Wednesday, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Prospective talent and spectators are welcome.

No experience in front a live audience is necessary for first-time performers – newbies can take a turn performing in a comfortable, open setting.

(Remember to bring your own instrument – equipment not supplied.)

Barista Patricia says open mic nights are a good forum for nurturing local talent.

A young man who’d never sang in front of an audience before, got the nerve at an open mic a few weeks ago. It went so well, he’s been coming regularly since, she says.

“Over the past couple of weeks, you can tell his confidence is up. It’s amazing.”
