Wine. Puppies. Father's Day. An idyllic south Langley vineyard setting. Um, did we mention bacon?

This may be the best-themed charity fundraiser and Father's Day bash ever conceived.

This Sunday, sample wines and all-natural, local bacon among the vines at Township 7 winery in south Langley, where they've created the ideal menu offering to celebrate dad on his special day.

The winery and vineyard has teamed up with Beast & Brine Local Provisions for Wine and Swine on June 16.

The event is a fundraiser for Pacific Assistance Dogs Society, or PADs.

Beast & Brine Chef Ryan Bissell will be cooking up an afternoon of local bacon paired with Township 7 wines. Think pancetta, proscuitto, candied bacon, back bacon, lamb bacon and more.

“As someone who’s originally from the Okanagan, I’m excited to do a BC wine pairing with one of my favourite foods, bacon. You really can’t go wrong with bacon for Fathers’ Day,” says Bissell.

“Township 7 is a great compliment to our own philosophy, we make everything at Beast and Brine from scratch and it’s all from local lamb and pork suppliers here in the Fraser Valley.“

And, if that's not enough temptation, tastings will be topped with bourbon bacon donuts by Cartems Donuterie.

"You had me at the bacon," added Township 7 Vineyards and Winery proprietor Mike Raffan. "I cannot think of a better way to spend Father's Day."

Raffan said the winery is thrilled to work with such a talented local chef. "Plus we're honoured to help the dedicated volunteers at PADS and their talented dogs with their support of people in need in our local community."

Wine-themed PADs puppies-in-training – including Pinot, Syrah, Merlot, Grigrio, Bacchus, Verdot, Malbec and Gamay – will also be on hand.

The PADS society trains assistance dogs for people with disabilities and helps support their client/dog teams throughout the working life of the dog.

Entry is $15 for adults, $8 for kids, with proceeds going to support PADS. Township 7 Vineyards and Winery is at 21152 16 Avenue in Langley. Email wine@township7.com or call 604-532-1766. More info at township7.com.
