VIDEO: Pet blessing ceremony held in South Surrey

Four-legged friends participate in church service

South Fraser Unitarians held a special service Sunday and pets were invited.

Once per year, the church invites people and their four-legged friends to “give thanks and bless our companions.”

One-by-one, dogs and one cat spent a few minutes with SFU Rev. Samaya Oakley or director of religious exploration Daylene Jones.

“May your water bowl always be full,” Oakley said to all pets before the ceremony started.

Each pet received a personalized blessing, and each walked away with tails wagging.

SFU meets every Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Sunnyside United Church (15639 24 Ave.).
