There has been a venue change for the next Cloverdale District Chamber of Commerce luncheon.
Norm Lipinski, the head of the Surrey Police Service, will now address Chamber members and guests Feb. 18. at Elements Casino on the Cloverdale Fairgrounds.
"Due to logistics, we moved it to Elements," said Scott Wheatley, the executive director for the Cloverdale Chamber. "It will be back up in their Dragon Lounge. The last lunch we had there was great."
Whealtey said Lipinski will be giving a his talk on all things Surrey policing.
"It’s been two years since Lipinski was a guest at a Chamber luncheon.
“The last time we had the chief speak to members was April, 2022,” Wheatley told the Cloverdale Reporter last week. "Now that SPS is the police of jurisdiction in the city, it means the timing is great for his return and for an update.”
Wheatley added that Lipinski doesn’t shy away from any topic.
“He is a great speaker and is willing to take tough questions,” he said. “I’m sure it will be a well-attended and interesting lunch.”
Wheatley noted he'll run another Q&A after the buffet lunch ends, "if there is time."
Lipinski joined the Surrey Police Service as chief constable in December 2020. Prior to that he served as a deputy chief constable for the Delta Police Department, was an assistant commissioner with the RCMP, and was deputy chief constable for the Edmonton Police Service.
The luncheon will be held Feb. 18 in the Dragon Lounge at Elements Casino located at 17755 60th Avenue in Cloverdale. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. with food being served at noon.
