According to the Surrey-based Hancock Wildlife Foundation, snowy owls usually live and breed in Alaska and Yukon, but they've come south because their food supply of lemmings was lacking.
The foundation says snowy owls have been seen even further south, from Washington state to Illinois, and even Honolulu.
