From Sir John A. McDonald and Alexander Graham Bell to filmmaker James Cameron, comic Colin Mochrie and singer/songwriter Sarah McLachlan, the list of Canadians with Scottish ancestry is as long as their contributions are wide.

In fact, more than 15 per cent of Canadians claim Scottish ancestry. Maybe you’re one of them?

Learn more about your heritage at Find your Scottish Roots, an upcoming workshop at the Cloverdale Library. It’s presented by researcher Lorraine

Irving on Saturday, March 31, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Irving’s presentation will cover basic sources, such as birth, marriage and death records, church and census records, cemetery records and websites. Irving will also discuss wills, sasines, and military records.

The cost is $10. Pre-register by calling 604-598-7328 or email familyhistory@surrey.ca.
