This spring a pair of Northern Flickers, a type of woodpecker, made their nest in a tree on Gayle Matheson’s property.
She took these photos in June while the babies were waiting for a parent to return to feed them. She thinks there were five chicks in total, but isn’t certain.
The images were taken at a distance as to not disturb the family, she said.
