Luring a hummingbird in Cloverdale.

Reader photo: Patience pays

Gayle Matheson of Cloverdale lures a hummingbird to her hand – long enough to snap a photo.

Nature photographers, patience pays.

It took Cloverdale’s Gayle Matheson ’30 to 45 minutes to get this little guy to be comfortable enough to come to me.’

Her photo of a male Anna’s Hummingbird was taken on Dec. 26.

Happy new year to all creatures great and small.
