Do you know someone who makes a positive contribution to the community in Surrey?

It’s time to nominate them for a Community Leader Award, presented annually by Surrey Now-Leader.

The nomination deadline is Sunday, Oct. 20 at 11:59 p.m.

Community Leader Awards are presented in nine categories: Coach, Community Builder, Volunteer, Youth Volunteer, Above and Beyond, Emergency Services , Environmental and Leader of the Year.

The awards are designed to recognize people or selflessly volunteer or otherwise give back to their community, and who are dedicated to the community without any expectations of recognition.

You can only nominate a person in one category, and past recipients aren't eligible for a nomination. No current elected officials can be nominated, and nor can any political organization or lobby organization or its organizers.

Submissions must include a minimum 250 words and information such as the length of time the nominee has spent in the community, examples of work and/or contribution he or she has made, plus community associations and memberships.

You can find the nomination portal at www.surreynowleader.com/contests.
