New home for Surrey Christmas Bureau

Registrations for new holiday season begin Tuesday, Nov. 8.

It’s moving day once again for the Surrey Christmas Bureau (SCB), thanks to BOSA Properties.

The former Sears furniture outlet store at 13583 104 Ave. is the newest home for the annual holiday charity.

The 31,000 sq.-ft site is being repurposed to become a busy hub of festive activity as dozens of volunteers deck the halls and gear up for registration.

Each year, the SCB struggles to find an available space big enough for its seasonal operations.

“We really appreciate BOSA’s generosity in allowing us to use this fantastic large and welcoming place as our toy depot,” said coordinator K.C. Gilroy.  “It will work very well for registrants and donors alike.”

Last year nearly 1,700 families were either sponsored through the Adopt-a-Family program or they received toys and grocery certificates directly from the SCB Depot.

Registration for the 2016 season begins Tuesday, Nov. 8 and continues until Dec. 3.

Hours are Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The depot is closed on Nov. 11.

To apply, families with children 18 and under must bring photo ID, CareCards, all income information and proof of residence in Surrey.
