The RCMP Musical Ride is trotting into Cloverdale for four performances over two days at the Stetson Bowl later this month.
The popular, patriotic ride is presented July 27 and 28 (at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. each day) by the Block Watch Society of B.C.
The Surrey Food Bank will be doing a 50/50 draw at each show.
The Musical Ride is performed by a troop of 32 riders and horses who execute a variety of intricate figures and cavalry drills to music.
The movements demand control, timing and coordination.
The riders are all full-time members of the RCMP, and they apply to be chosen for the program.
The Musical Ride was developed in 1876 by early members of the North-West Mounted Police to display their riding ability and entertain the local community.
It has evolved over the decades into a uniquely Canadian performance enjoyed by tens of thousands of spectators every year.
They perform from May to October, touring across Canada.
Tickets for the Stetson Bowl performances are available at Ticketmaster.ca. Tickets are $12 (general admission seating) or ($8 standing room only).
The Cloverdale Fairgrounds won’t be your only chance to catch the spectacle close to home.
The RCMP Musical Ride is also being performed at Semiahmoo Park in White Rock next Friday, on July 26. Tickets for that event are available online through the Surrey Arts Centre (tickets.surrey.ca).
