These Port Kells Elementary students say they’re looking forward to going back to school Tuesday after a fun summer. Pictured clockwise from top left are Will Shoemay, his older brother Jacob, Amy Mclean, sisters Teija and Shalena Bowie, Wilson McLean (centre), Breanna Pierce, a visitor from Prince George, and Evie McLean (sister to Wilson and Amy).

Not pictured is Christian Shoemay, aged 3, who is probably too little for Tiny Toes Learning Centre, the new preschool and before-and-after school care program opening this September.

The kids’ parents – Jacquie Shoemay and Terri McLean – also went to Port Kells and are on the school's Parent Advisory Council.

“I love this school,” said Terri.

Unlike other nearby schools in Clayton and Cloverdale, Port Kells Elementary has no portables and is offering open registration to new students.
