Keian Blundell always wanted to be a police officer.
On October 31st, 2013, the Constable Mark Peterse and the Surrey RCMP made Keian’s dream come true. They named him an honourary member of the RCMP and gave him a custom-made red serge, making the six-year-old’s dream become a reality.
Two months later, Keian lost his battle with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. However, Keian legacy still lives on with some help from his friends with the Surrey RCMP.
It started back in 2012. Keian was home from the hospital for the holidays and he wanted other kids at the hospital to still experience the joy of Christmas. Keian then organized a toy drive with the help of a family friend.
That year, Keian delivered 16 toys to B.C. Children’s Hospital and Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

After his passing, the ‘Keian’s Holiday Wish Toy Drive’ started to grow.
“I know Keian would’ve been proud to see his wish to bring joy to children at B.C Children’s Hospital and Canuck Place Children’s Hospice continue to grow,” said Keian’s parents, Ryan and Chantal Blundell, in a press release.
Last year, 974 toys were donated, bringing the total to nearly 3,700 toys delivered since the event began in 2014.
“Keian was a bright light at Canuck Place Children’s Hospice,” said Canuck Place CEO Margaret McNeil in a press release. “His generous and compassionate spirit touched everyone he met and we’re so happy that his legacy of giving continues.”
“It’s because of Keian’s generous spirit and the people making donations that many sick children will be just a little bit happier this Christmas season,” she said.
The Surrey RCMP is inviting the public to come out and support Keian’s Holiday Wish Toy Drive.
Between December 1st and 15th, the Surrey RCMP will be accepting toys and cash donations at its main detachment and five district offices in support of this annual toy drive.
They will also be on location collecting toys. On Saturday, Dec. 2nd, they will be at Wal-Mart, located at 12451, 88th Avenue.
The following weekend, they will be collecting toys at Real Canadian Superstore, located at 2332, 160th Street.
“It’s because of Keian’s generous spirit and the people making donations that many sick children will be just a little bit happier this Christmas season,” said Peterse in a press release.
