Roger Crick and Sten Christiansen of the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society take a well-deserved breather last week at Cloverdale Station. They’re part of a volunteer crew planting the foundation of a landscaping project for the site designed by Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s horticulture department.

The design includes the replica 1910 railway station grounds and a pathway leading visitors to the Car Barn.

The Cloverdale branch of Scotiabank, BC Hydro and Potter’s are also supporting the landscaping project.

These initial plants – mature rhododendrons, giant ferns, hostas and more – are from the garden of one of the members of the Fraser Valley Railway Society whose South Surrey home is being redeveloped.

The railway’s summer season starts May 11.
