Sgt. Bison will be at community events throughout the city and the RCMP basketball classic.

The Surrey RCMP is asking students in Surrey to help them choose a name for its new mascot, Sgt. Bison.

"We are excited to introduce Sgt. Bison to the community," said Staff Sgt. Sub Wong, non-commissioned officer in charge of Surrey RCMP's youth section. "We look forward to reading all of the creative entries for Sgt. Bison’s first name."

Students who live in and attend a Surrey school are encouraged to email their name suggestions to  surrey_media@rcmp-grc.gc.ca. The winner will receive an RCMP prize bag and a school visit from Sgt. Bison.

To enter, the contestant must be between five and 18 years old, live in Surrey, and attend a Surrey school. Contestants are limited to one first-name entry. The name can start with any letter and must be one or two syllables. The contest closes on Nov. 1.

Sgt. Bison will be at community events throughout the city, including the RCMP basketball classic.
