The Peoples’ Law School has teamed up with Surrey Libraries for BC Law Week to provide free information to Surrey residents and to answer questions.
There’s a session on Wills and Estates April 11 at the Ocean Park Library and April 12 at the Cloverdale Library, from 7-8:30 p.m. both nights, plus other sessions on other legal topics at other libraries across the city.
The Wills and Estates session will cover when to make a will, what the formal requirements are, who can make a will, how it can be revoked, and more. The workshop will be held by a lawyer. (Registration is required.)
The ICBC and Personal Injury workshop will be presented by a lawyer who is experienced in personal injury law. Have you been in an auto accident that requires a claim for personal injury or damages? This workshop will outline the basics in making an ICBC claim. It’s at Semiahmoo Library on April 12 and at Guildford Library on April 13 from 7-8:30 p.m. both nights.
Top 10 Scams, presented at Fleetwood Library April 12 from 7-8:30 p.m., looks at the Better Business Bureau’s annual list, developed along with the help of the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. This year’s list is a good news bad news affair. While Canadians lost less to scammers in 2015 than the previous year, we are still falling for some of the same old tricks.
Immigration Law (in Punjabi) is April 14 (from 7-8:30 p.m.) at Strawberry Hill Library. Get your questions answered about immigration issues faced by permanent residents such as: renewing your PR card, becoming a citizen, and sponsorship of spouses or parents. This free legal information session will be in Punjabi, presented by a lawyer.
