DeLorme is the widow of Jack DeLorme, who fought at the Second World War battle of Ortona, Italy, remembered annually by Seaforth Highlander regiments, and the 2812 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps, which has a long-standing relationship with the DeLorme family of Surrey.

Dorothy DeLorme attends formal cadet functions as a patron guest of the Corps.
