Decorated CDs have become hanging art in the courtyard at George Greenaway Elementary in Cloverdale, where the students have just completed a three-week exploration of the fine arts involving the entire school.
On Thursday, George Greenaway capped it all off with an afternoon of singing and dancing, plus a gallery walk through classrooms.
Parents were invited to see the results of the students' many creative endeavors and projects, which ranged from paintings to sculptures constructed from recyclable materials.
School principal Elsie Bertholm said each class studied a different visual artist, and every student hand-painted a rock for the school's rock garden, but the artistic exploration didn't stop there.
Some classes created a poetry cafe, while others took part in theatre sports and drama sessions.
"It's been a crazy three weeks," she beamed from beneath a broad-rimmed hat that was covered in Easter eggs and tiny teddy bears.
Vice principal Bobby Samra wore a rainbow-covered chapeau that was just as eye-catching.
It turns out April 17 was also create-a-hat day at the school.
