Cloverdale Gardening Club

The Cloverdale Gardening club is having its January meeting on Thursday, Jan. 12 at 7 p.m., at Clayton Community Hall, 18513  70 Ave.  We have great speakers every month, a yearly bus trip, an annual auction and many more fun events. Join other keen gardeners, and come and have some fun. Membership is $20 per year, or $3 per month for drop-in. Photos for Famine Relief

Raising funds to help feed starving people in the Horn of Africa will be holding a Gallery Exhibit of six award-winning photographers, Jan. 14 at Morgan Creek Golf Club, 3500 Morgan Creek Way, Surrey. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Finger foods, beverages, good fellowship and some great photography. Individually printed images ill be available in three sizes and your choice of two archival photopapers. If you can’t make it, check out the website www.photosforfaminerelief.com. View the same photos as at the gallery with the option to purchase online with delivery within two weeks. The website will be ongoing, with new images, so please bookmark the site and visit often.

 

Zumbathon

Help raise money for the LTSS Dry Grad. Thursday, Jan. 19 at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary School gymnasium, join two highly enthusiastic instructors for a two-hour Zumba fitness party. From 6:30-8:30 p.m. Proceeds to the LTSS Dry Grad. Entry is $15, or $20 at the door. Bring a towel, water and wear athletic shoes and comfortable clothing. CARE(ful) Choices

Experts discuss 55+ finances, health and housing options. Make informed choices for yourself and aging parents. Saturday, Jan. 22 from 2-3:30 p.m. at Bethshan Gardens, 17528 59 Avenue, Cloverdale. Why not join the South Surrey Garden Club? Visitors welcome; $3 drop in fee credited to annual membership of $20. The next meeting is Wednesday, Jan. 25. Guest speaker Dr. Iain Taylor. Topic: Botanical Gardens of the World. Hominum Fraser Valley

The Hominum Fraser Valley Chapter is an informal discussion and support group to help gay, bi-sexual and questioning men with the challenges of being married, separated or single. Cloverdale Toastmasters

Toastmasters international is a non-profit organization that helps people develop public speaking, organizational and communication skills, and leadership training. Overcome your fears of public speaking. Learn how to communicate effectively. We are a fun and encouraging group that can help. Surrey Historical Society

The Surrey Historical Society meets at 10 a.m. at the Surrey Archives on the second Saturday of most months. You are welcome to hear our speakers and share your knowledge. Membership is $10/year. For details, call John at 778-294-1515.

South Surrey Soul Sisters

The newly formed South Surrey Soul Sisters meet the third Thursday of the month. We are working, under the auspices of the Stephen Lewis Foundation to support the African grandmothers who are raising an estimated 14 million orphaned children. Silvertone singers

The Silvertone singers are a group of men and women 55 and older. We will reconvene on the second floor of the Cloverdale Recreation Centre Thursday, Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. Practices continue every Thursday from September to June. You may have already heard us sing as we perform in the community several times a year. Come on out and enjoy singing and socializing with a great group of people.
