Deltassist’s Christmas programs are in full swing.

Staff and volunteers are gratefully accepting donations of toys and food for their annual toy depot and Christmas food hamper program. Deltassist continues to rely on the overwhelming support of the community to meet the increasing need of low-income families, seniors, and individuals in Delta.

Registration for Deltassist’s Christmas programs is now under way. Eligible families and individuals must apply in person at Deltassist’s North Delta office (9097 120th St., Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.) or Ladner office (#200 5000 Bridge St., Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.). To complete registration, Deltassist requires proof of residence in Delta, proof of income and care cards for children registered for the toy depot.

The deadline for registration for the toy depot is Dec. 8. Christmas food hamper applications will be accepted until Dec. 15.

This year’s toy depot will be held Dec. 12, 13 and 14. Toys are needed for children from birth to 16 years of age. As always, the need is greatest for infants and teens.

Christmas food hampers are being delivered by local service clubs on Saturday, Dec. 23. Items most needed include canned ham and chicken, canned hearty meals (e.g. stew), rice, pasta and sauce, hot chocolate and cookies.

Help Delta families and their children enjoy Christmas with food on the table and gifts under the tree. New, unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items may be dropped off at the following locations around Delta:
