Information Fair

Kwantlen Polytechnic University invites you to the Special Education Teaching Assistant (SETA) Celebration of Inclusion Information Fair. Friday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kwantlen's Langley campus, 20901 Langley Bypass, Langley, rooms 1030, 1010 and 2005. This is an opportunity for the community to connect and share resources in support of families with children with disabilities. Presenters include Kid Matter Inc., Pony Pals Therapeutic Riding Association, and the Down Syndrome Research Foundation. Hominum Meets

Are you gay, bi-sexual or just not sure? Need a safe place to talk? Hominum Fraser Valley is an informal discussion and support group to help gay, bi-sexual and questioning men with the challenges of being married, separated, or single. Fall Sale

Surrey Covenant Reformed Church hosts its annual fall sale, Saturday, Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., 17400 60 Avenue, Coverdale. Entrance at the back of the building. Homemade cookies, raisin bread, buns and pies, cakes, jam, tiger butter, crafts and gently-made goodies. Come for lunch, hommade soup and buns. Free coffee.

 

Pottery sale

South Surrey potter Hanne Andersen hosts an annual pottery sale  Saturday, Oct. 27 and Sunday, Oct. 28. She and five of her fellow potters are donating five percent of the proceeds to the B.C. Cancer Foundation. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., 2071 at 14 Street.

 

Old Time Dance

Surrey RCMP Volunteer Positions Available

The Surrey RCMP - Cloverdale/Port Kells Community Police Office is currently recruiting for several volunteer positions. Positions available include SpeedWatch, Auto Theft Prevention and Recovery, Office Support and Crime Watch. Volunteers must be 19 years of age or older and be able to pass an R.C.M.P. Security Clearance. If you have four hours a week and would like to help the Surrey RCMP provide a greater service to the community, please consider volunteering. Call for Entry

We are pleased to announce a call for entry for our 11th annual holiday art and fine craft sale, A Real Piece of Work, taking place at the Ocean Park Community Hall Saturday, Nov. 17 and Sunday, Nov. 18. The Fraser Health Crisis Line is recruiting volunteers to provide assistance to people in the region who are experiencing emotional distress. No previous experience is needed as extensive training and ongoing support is provided. Surrey Crime Prevention Society is recruiting volunteers to tour our communities in Newton, Fleetwood, Downtown Surrey, and Guildford. Oneness GoGos

The Oneness Gogos of White Rock/South Surrey group is working under the auspices of the Stephen Lewis Foundation to support African grandmothers raising children orphaned by HIV/AIDS. Ultimate Frisbee

Come out and play Ultimate Frisbee with the Surrey Ultimate League. Every Sunday to December 16. It's a drop-in format so bring a light and dark shirt and cleats if you have them. Age 15 and up. From beginner to expert – everyone's welcome. Sign up at the field. $25 each or 2/$40 for the entire season.

The Cloverdale Garden Club meets the second Thursday of the month, September to June, at Clayton Community Hall, 18513 70 Avenue. Meetings run from 7 to 9 p.m. In addition to monthly speakers, we have a monthly raffle, yearly bus trip and a plant sale in May. Drop in fee $3. Yearly memberships $20 per person or $30 per family. As seniors, entertaining our community and giving back is part of what we do.  We need some new blood in the group and Cloverdale is our base of operations. Our oldest member is 90 and trying for 100.

Parkinson's Caregiver Group in Langley

Parkinson Society British Columbia is pleased to announce the opening of a special peer support group for Parkinson’s caregivers. The Silvertone singers are a group of men and women 55 and older.
