The Cloverdale Community Association (CCA) is looking for feedback and some new members.
Ken Bauder, president of the CCA, said the association wants to hear the opinions of Cloverdale residents in several key areas. The info will help guide the CCA—as it works with the city, the BIA, the Chamber of Commerce, and other groups—to be the voice for residents.
“We would appreciate any feedback on what you think about Cloverdale and the significant changes that will be coming to all of us,” Bauder said.
Several areas the CCA will be looking for feedback include two forthcoming reports: the Cloverdale accessibility report and a housing accessibility report. And they want to hear what residents think regarding any transportation corridors updates.
“We are also reaching out with a membership drive for residents of Cloverdale, or persons who work in Cloverdale, to join our (association),” Bauder added.
The CCA also recently held its AGM. During the meeting, the group revamped its bylaws and constitution and elected a new board of directors. Bauder was elected president. Ram Sabharwal was elected vice-president. Andrew Brlic was elected treasurer. And three members-at-large were elected: Todd Jones, Paul Orazietti, and Stan Leyenhorst. The CCA did not elect a secretary and they are still looking for someone to fill that position.
“We are actively drafting a list of goals, a new mission statement, and working on our social media,” Bauder explained.
Bauder added that over the next few months, the new board will work to reestablish “a clear mandate” and work to identify “collaboration opportunities” with other groups in Cloverdale.
Formed in 1978, the CCA helps residents of Cloverdale and Clayton navigate local issues. In 2022, the Clayton Community Association was incorporated into the CCA.
According to their website, the CCA strives “to make a positive change in the community by ensuring that the residents and businesses play an active role in the consultation and decision-making processes.”
The Cloverdale Community Association will host its next meeting Nov. 19 at the Cloverdale Rec. Centre. The meeting will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in room 206. Bauder encouraged local residents to come out to that meeting and “get involved” with the association.
