Killing them softly: End of Life Documents are the Place to Start. Killing off your ancestors can give you the best launch in discovering the stories of their lives. Consider how the information compiled at the end of one's life can provide a summary, guiding your research deep into the past. The Cloverdale Garden Club meets the second Thursday of the month, September to June, at Clayton Community Hall, 18513 70 Avenue. Meetings run from 7 to 9 p.m. Our next meeting is April 12. Paul Bukema, a certified arborist, is speaking to us on pruning. In addition to monthly speakers, we have a monthly raffle, yearly bus trip and a plant sale in May. Drop in fee $3. Seedy Saturday
Get a great start on this year's garden at the Stewart Farm's annual seed and plant sale, and seed exchange. Purchase heritage vegetable, flower and herb seeds, fruit trees and nursery plants. Master gardeners and B.C. Fruit Testers will be on site to answer your gardening questions. Saturday, April 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Drop in, all ages, by donations. Freemasonry Explained
An evening of explanation and discovery. Everything you always wanted to know about Freemasonry but were afraid to ask. The Cloverdale Freemasons host an open house April 14 at the Eureka Masonic Hall, 20701 Fraser Highway, Langley. Doors open at 7 p.m., meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. This is an evening designed to explain and enlighten family, friends and the general public about our fraternity. Burnaby schools history project
A volunteer group is writing and compiling the history of Burnaby schools, from 1894 to the present. If you have a short narrative or photo of a school experience or memory, we'd love to hear from you: 100 words or less is fine. Please make your submission by May 31, 2012. Email to burnabyheritageschools@gmail.com. Target publication date is early next year. Proceeds from sales of this coffee table book will go to scholarships for Burnaby high school students.

Heritage Garden Volunteers
Help visitors discover Surrey’s agricultural past when you become a volunteer in the Historic Stewart Farm’s heritage flower, herb and vegetable gardens. Heritage garden volunteers plant and care for the gardens organically, and save seed from these old varieties to share with the public. Volunteers must have good basic gardening knowledge. The Oneness Gogos of White Rock/Surrey group is working under the auspices of the Stephen Lewis Foundation to support African grandmothers raising children orphaned by HIV/AIDS.
