Prayer Canada Prayer Breakfast

Old Time Dance

Off the Wall in China

William Jans' 6th live show about absurd travels. This journey through the Philippines and China includes Sleeping on the Great Wall, a treacherous cliff hike, climbing the 'perfect' volcano and the wild Crucifixion Festival. Bermuda Avenue Triangle

What happens when you cross two old biddies with one charming scoundrel in Vegas? Surrey Little Theatre presents Bermuda Avenue Triangle, a comedy by Renee Taylor & Joseph Bologna, Jan. 24 to Feb. 16. Directed by Rita Price. Warning, some adult content and coarse language. Viking Invasion

Vikings have invaded the Surrey Museum! Join in the Norse fun with crafts, music and games. Visit the Viking Village Encampment, complete with Norse A-frame tents, which will be set up and filled with costumed members of the Reik Felag Norse Culture Recreation Society. From 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16. By donation, all ages.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Do you enjoy engaging with people in a fun environment; do you like trains; are you interested in heritage preservation? Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society (www.fvhrs.org) will begin passenger service from Cloverdale to Sulllivan Station on week-ends and holidays starting May 11 until October 14, 2013. We will need volunteers to greet and guide passengers, sell tickets and souvenirs, and assist in boarding passengers. For more information contact Myrna, Volunteer Coordinator at 604 597-9704 or register at volunteer@fvhrs.org

 

Does your child need extra support?

We can help. If your child is in Grades 5 to 8 and could use extra help, sign them up for the Learning Club, Thursdays, from 2:30 to 5 p.m., at the Cloverdale Library, 5642 176A Ave. This is a free program. The club focuses on academic support and developing positive social skills in a fun and safe environment. Open Mic Music Night

Is food a problem for you? Do you eat when you're not hungry? Do you go on eating binges? Is your weight affecting your life? Overeaters Anonymous offers help. No fees, no dues, no weigh-ins, no diets. We are a fellowship. We meet every Thursday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Cloverdale United Church basement, 17575-58A Ave., Cloverdale. Everyone welcome.

Oneness GoGos

The Oneness Gogos of White Rock/South Surrey group is working under the auspices of the Stephen Lewis Foundation to support African grandmothers raising children orphaned by HIV/AIDS. Welcome all keen gardeners!

The Cloverdale Garden Club meets the second Thursday of the month, September to June, at Clayton Community Hall, 18513 70 Avenue. Meetings run from 7 to 9 p.m. In addition to monthly speakers, we have a monthly raffle, yearly bus trip and a plant sale in May. Drop in fee $3. Yearly memberships $20 per person or $30 per family. The Versatiles

As seniors, entertaining our community and giving back is part of what we do.  We need some new blood in the group and Cloverdale is our base of operations. Give us a call at 604-613-3116 or drop in to the Cloverdale Legion any Monday at 12 noon and ask for Susie. Having fun is our priority, come see us and find out what we are all about. Our oldest member is 90 and trying for 100.

Toastmasters international is a non-profit organization that helps people develop public speaking, organizational and communication skills, and leadership training. The newly formed South Surrey Soul Sisters meet the third Thursday of the month. We are working, under the auspices of the Stephen Lewis Foundation to support the African grandmothers who are raising an estimated 14 million orphaned children. Parkinson's Caregiver Group in Langley

Parkinson Society British Columbia is pleased to announce the opening of a special peer support group for Parkinson’s caregivers. In Surrey, White Rock and Langley for people with Parkinson's, their family and friends. The groups provide an atmosphere of mutual trust for sharing tips and strategies for living a full life with Parkinson's. Volunteers needed.
