Catch Me If You Can

HELD OVER: announcing two additional performances of Surrey Little Theatre fall production, Catch Me If You Can, a comedic mystery about a groom whose bride disappears on their honeymoon. Greener Pastures fundraiser

Greener Pastures BC Standardbred Horse Adoption Society is holding a pub night at Rusty's Pub in Cloverdale on Saturday, Nov. 24, starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 and include burger of choice, fries, and drink. Silent auction, raffles and more. Tickets can be purchased at Fraser Downs Racetrack and Casino, Venderveen Hay Sales, or by calling Alina at 778-549-9280.

 

Christmas concert

Langley Community Chorus is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a Christmas concert featuring everything from "A to Z" – or from Ave Maria to 'Zat You Santa Claus? Saturday, Nov. 24 at Willoughby Christian Reformed Church, 20525 72 Ave., Langley, 7:30 p.m. Afternoon matinee 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2 at Sharon United Church, 21562 Old Yale Road, Langley, and at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 at St. Dunstan's Anglican CHurch, 3025 264 Street, Aldergrove. Ukrainian Soul Food

Perogies, cabbage rolls and borscht will be available on Friday, Nov. 30 at a fundraiser from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Ukrainian Cultural Centre, 13512 108 Ave., Surrey. Eat in, take away or ready for your freezer. Christmas in Cloverdale: Gift and Craft Marketplace

The annual Christmas in Cloverdale Gift and Craft Marketplace takes place Nov. 30 from 5-9 p.m. and Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This free event features over 70 juried vendors selling gift and craft items. Also featuring a visit by Santa, and Joseph the Magician will be entertaining children of all ages. Make your own craft, food concession and more. We will be transforming Shannon Hall at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds into a Christmas shopping experience to remember. Canned goods gratefully accepted for the Surrey Food Bank. Does your child need extra support?

We can help. If your child is in Grades 5 to 8 and could use extra help, sign them up for the Learning Club, Thursdays, from 2:30 to 5 p.m., at the Cloverdale Library, 5642 176A Ave. This is a free program. The club focuses on academic support and developing positive social skills in a fun and safe environment. Open Mic Music Night

Learn to curl

The Cloverdale Curling Club is offering novice and experienced curlers a chance to learn and play on every Saturday to December 8. Basic instruction will be offered at 6:30 p.m. Game time at 7 p.m. The Focus is on learning and having fun in an informal relaxed fun atmosphere. Only $10 per person. Ultimate Frisbee

Come out and play Ultimate Frisbee with the Surrey Ultimate League. Every Sunday to December 16. It's a drop-in format so bring a light and dark shirt and cleats if you have them. Age 15 and up. From beginner to expert – everyone's welcome. Sign up at the field. $25 each or 2/$40 for the entire season.

 

Oneness GoGos

The Oneness Gogos of White Rock/South Surrey group is working under the auspices of the Stephen Lewis Foundation to support African grandmothers raising children orphaned by HIV/AIDS. We meet on the fourth Monday of the month 1-3 p.m. upstairs at White Rock Library, 15342 Buena Vista Ave. Newcomers welcome. For more info, email onenessgogos@gmail.com.

The Cloverdale Garden Club meets the second Thursday of the month, September to June, at Clayton Community Hall, 18513 70 Avenue. Meetings run from 7 to 9 p.m. In addition to monthly speakers, we have a monthly raffle, yearly bus trip and a plant sale in May. Drop in fee $3. Yearly memberships $20 per person or $30 per family. As seniors, entertaining our community and giving back is part of what we do.  We need some new blood in the group and Cloverdale is our base of operations. Our oldest member is 90 and trying for 100.

We are working, under the auspices of the Stephen Lewis Foundation to support the African grandmothers who are raising an estimated 14 million orphaned children. Parkinson's Caregiver Group in Langley

Parkinson Society British Columbia is pleased to announce the opening of a special peer support group for Parkinson’s caregivers. The Silvertone singers are a group of men and women 55 and older. We will reconvene on the second floor of the Cloverdale Recreation Centre Thursday, Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. Practices continue every Thursday from September to June.
