Ida Yang of Hazelgrove Elementary won first prize in the Royal Canadian Legion’s poster contest for her entry in the Colour Poster Primary division.
On April 12, Cmde. Gord Kendrick and Anne Sharkey of Branch 6 in Cloverdale presented awards to the winning students at four local schools: Sullivan Heights, Fraser Heights Secondary, Erma Stevenson Elementary, Hazelgrove Elementary, and Cloverdale Catholic School.
The branch received 120 entries in total.
Each year, Canadian students compete in the poster and literary contest to foster the tradition of remembrance.
