Coast Capital Savings is to make a $75,000 donation to food banks across the province, $4,000 of which will be going to the Sources White Rock/South Surrey Food Bank

“We know that at least one third of those who access food banks in Canada are children and youth,” said Coast Capital Savings community leadership director Maureen Young in a press release. “We hope that our donation will help make the season brighter and merrier for those who need it most.”

Food Banks BC executive director Laura Lansink said in a news release that monetary donations go further than food donations due to the buying power of food banks.

“Thanks to relationships with grocers and farmers, food banks across BC are able to maximize donations to make a significant impact on hunger in B.C.” Lansink said in a news release. “As demand grows over the holiday season, Coast Capital’s generous donation will mean that much more to vulnerable families and young people across the province.”
